We're on the brink of ecological disaster. It's a theme running through many of my songs, such as this one. Just as our relationships with each other are so fragile, so is the environment we inhabit.
We can't keep stumbling on towards this inevitable ecocide.

FRAGILE

You're a paper plane
In a hurricane
You're a fresh snowflake
On a frozen lake
You're a candle flame
Near a draughty pane
A rice paper chip
In a vice like grip

You're a fraying thread
You're a pencil lead
You're my team’s defence
Against a good offense
You're a butterfly
A half-hearted lie
You're a coral reef
A sheet of silver leaf

You're so fragile

We’re a broken heart
A piece of ancient art
A hungry mouth to feed
We’re a dying breed
We are brittle bones
Screens on our smart phones
We’re a habitat
That we’ve bulldozed flat

We’re so fragile

When the bullets cease
Can we call it peace?
When the hatred ends
Can we say we’re friends?
Will it always be
For humanity
A walk on thinning ice?
A foolish paradise?

We’re so fragile

Always one step from disaster
All patched up with sticking plaster
